As an Olympic rower, I was no stranger to chronic injuries. With 18 training sessions a week, some level of pain or discomfort was expected. At best, the developing injury is minor. At worst, it is a career-ender.

I love cooking with watermelon in the summer. Watermelon is excellent for summer because it's a very refreshing food due to its water content (~92% water). It's also highly nutritious. It's a very good source of vitamin C and contains B vitamins, potassium, copper and magnesium.

Watermelon can be a delicious ingredient in gazpacho, salsa, or a smoothie. But there’s nothing quite so refreshing as a simple watermelon and mint salad with some lime, cayenne and sea salt.

With summer in full swing, we all want to soak up as much great weather as we can. Why not take advantage of everything the season has to offer by taking your fitness goals outdoors too?

If you want to exercise outside, but aren’t sure where to start, here are a few ideas to get you started.

It’s smoothie season! With summer in full swing, what better time to enjoy a refreshing blended drink?

Creating the perfect smoothie is both an art and a science. It must be tasty—of course—but a great smoothie should also be nutritious.

Summer activities are great, but summer acne? Not so much. If this season causes your skin to stress out, a soothing mask might be in order.

However, instead of turning to a premade formula from a cosmetics store, why not make your own mask? Using natural ingredients, it’s simple to soothe, moisturize, and refresh your face throughout the summer.

What better way to beat the heat than with a delicious popsicle? Nothing refreshes on a scorching day quite like an icy treat pulled straight from the freezer. Best of all, there is one for every palate—and diet.

Making your own popsicles at home is surprisingly simple. All you’ll need is a set of popsicle moulds and a bag of popsicle sticks, both of which can be easily found online or at your nearest home goods store.

Keeping up with your New Year’s resolutions can be a struggle. There are many factors that can force us back into an old routine, causing us to step away from those goals we make at the beginning of the year. Here are some tips for a mid-year check-in on your goals and some helpful products that may be a solution to aid in your resolutions.
Vitamin C is a vital nutrient that our body needs to help form and maintain bone and skin health. While Vitamin C does occur naturally in some foods, we often need to supplement Vitamin C in other forms to get the required amount our body needs.
Not getting enough sleep can be detrimental to our overall health. It is a difficult habit to break, but with a little help from a sleep aid, you may just be drifting off to dreamland sooner than you think.

If you’re looking to adopt more planet-friendly practices in your home, the next area to tackle might just be your refrigerator.

Food waste is a tremendous and growing problem in Canada and around the world. Each year, 396 kilograms of food are thrown away per person in Canada, and that number is only growing.

If you’re moving towards using more natural products in your home, why not grow your own?

One of the most useful natural products you can grow in your own home is aloe vera. A lush succulent with long, thick branches, aloe vera is known for its many useful properties.
